The term "residential designer" is not a widely known or understood professional title among the general public. However confusing the title may be, you know it has something to do with a house. A residential designer does the same thing as an architect, except that an architect does residential as well as commercial projects, while residential designers focus exclusively on homes.
Building design is the main area of focus for nearly all residential specialists. Building design in the residential field is the process of creating a concept and completing the blueprints of a home plan. This is what many people would consider to be the work of an architect. However, there are few architects in comparison to residential designers who actually focus exclusively on home designs as their main expertise and residential designers often have experience in more than just design, but structural design, surveying and construction which allows them to see things an architect may not see.
This is why residential designers are considered the specialists when it comes to home plans because it is nearly 100% of their business. Whether it is keeping up with the latest home trends or creating the latest trend, it is all they do.
